601 College StAustin Peay State University, located in Clarksville, Tenn., enrolls more than 8,700 domestic and international students. Named after Tennessee s former Governor Austin Peay, the university was established in 1927 as Austin Peay Normal School. Its main 200-acre campus comprises classrooms, office buildings, laboratories and the environmental education center. The college offers 50 majors, such as art, elementary education, geosciences, pre-medicine, philosophy, radiology and technology through its academic colleges, including arts and letters; science and mathematics; professional programs and Social Sciences; and graduate studies. It also offers honors programs, career services, extended and distance education programs, and online classes and degrees. The college has a center in Fort Campbell, Ky. Austin Peay State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.\n\n
